As we welcome the new year of 2011, we welcome many new watchers as well. Thank you all for joining, and caring about your fellow human being. :)

The group has been around for over a year by now, yet even so a mere 49 members appears rather disappointing. Especially considering that the goals we have here are righteous: the idea that there still is death penalty for homosexuality in these modern days is extremely disturbing, and with so few people aware of this, there's a small chance that the situation will change.

We've GOT to spread the word on this: not once, not twice, but many, many times, trying to get to as many people as possible. We've got to do what we CAN do.

As this is deviantArt, I believe that we're all capable of creating something that will make people aware of all this. Women don't HAVE to be stoned to death for completely ridiculous things such as wearing trousers or loving a man that isn't their own. Homosexual individuals don't HAVE to be thrown off of buildings or shot for being who they are.
You have a strong opinion. I know you do.

So please: let that opinion be seen in art. Draw, write, make photographs, create a sculpture, do whatever you feel is right! Spread the word and spread your work, then ignorance will no longer be the cause of thousands of deaths every year.

So that perhaps by the end of this year, we won't find statistics of 700 gay men executed legally. Perhaps it can be less. And perhaps, you will have helped to make that difference.

No one else is going to make the difference for you: BE the spark, the action, the inspiration. :)

It’s time to vote, people!
Quickly; come along and join in, for we will list EVERYONE that wishes for a chance to be featured!
You can overread all rules and instructions on this if you click the following link: sharia-victims.deviantart.com/… , yet I will also explain it shortly right now. :)

To VOTE, you look at our list of members that are put here in this journal, OR you can go to our Members' List and make your choice there!  Have a look at their galleries, and decide which member you see as the best artist. :) Then return here, and vote by commenting on this page: comment with the artist’s username, and that’s all! :la:

To have extra chance of being voted FOR, you comment on this journal with a link to your favourite deviation – and actually, this is something I advise all active members to do. Then, your name will be added to this journal, with the link to that deviation, making it easier for others to find you and vote for you. :)   Puclicity can sometimes make all the difference!

Note: ADMINS can not win. We CAN, but only if we get over 75% of all votes. Yet as we’re often not part of the member’s list, the chances of being voted for are low: this club belongs to its members, not those that handle things behind the scenes. :)

So, now:
Look at the fellow members galleries, and vote! Go to the Members' List now!
The BEST ACTIVIST requires a comment from the deviant, including information on what you have done to help the lgbt community so far. :) Share your actions: and be proud of all of them!

:star:Every vote counts! Voting will run until the 18th of April, (we will conclude these votes every third Sunday of the month)  or longer if necessarry: until at least 4 members have voted.

Go wild! ;D

Greetings to all members and watchers! :)  To all of you, please take the time to read this journal. You will learn how you can be featured around here, how you can win prizes and how you can be one to make certain prizes for others.

:bulletred: First off: we will start voting every month/two months on who is the best artist and who is the best activist. You will all be asked to leave a comment on the journal entry we’ll create for that occasion, with a link to your best work. Then your name will be added in the journal, with the link to that work, and others will be allowed to vote on who they find the best artist out of that list.   If someone does not add a link, yet turns out to be a very good artist, it’s still possible for him or her to win: other members may also just look through the member’s-list, and make their choice there.  As for the best activist: tell us what you’ve done already to support gay rights, and we’ll add THAT to our journal as well!

:star: ONE vote per member. And no member may vote for him/herself! :noes:

:star: Mods of most sorts may not enter their names in any contest. They can ONLY become “best artist” if they receive over 75% of all votes - not 74, not 74,5, but 75% !   They are allowed to vote, of course: only the founder may not interfere on that part. All I may do is count your votes, and hand out the prizes. :)

:star: Submitting work you did not make yourself is COMPLETELY forbidden!

:star: It is not possible to vote for a “Random Member”! That feature will be given to one lucky member, and can therefore not be influenced by other people’s preferations.

:bulletred: Once the journal for voting is up, you will be led to it from here. :)

Now, as for what you’re all most eager to know:
:star: :la: PRIZES :la: :star:

For every contest, there will be lovely prizes to win! And usually they will be a bit like this:

1#  Prize money of 20 to 30 euros OR a work of any sort by donating members,  and also a feature on this page until the next contest is done with.

2# A sketch of any sort by donating members, or prize money of 5 to 10 euros.

Now, about that prize money: if you decide to take the money instead of the request, it will not be as you expect it to be. We will not send 30 euros your way. What we WILL do is donate that amount of money to either the IRQR organisation or Amnesty International! Same goes for the second prize: this club is here in order to support gay rights, human rights, so therefore our goal is to contribute on that matter as good as we can. :)
So there, the choice is all up to you. Have that money donated, or ask for a certain work that might be worth more/less than the actual prize money. One way or another: the big winner WILL be featured. :la:

Note: money prizes are NOT valid on the random member/best artist/best activist selection of the month. There, the winner wins a month long feature. :la:

:star: :star:  !WE NEED DONATING ARTISTS!  :star: :star:
A donating artist will be someone winners can contact, if they wish to request a sketch/work. :) Here is the list of those artists:
:iconxannijn: :iconwerekitty14v:
Are you interested in being a donating artist? Then tell us so in a comment on THIS journal entry, or in a note to the club!   If you do so, your name will be added to this list! :)
A donating artist will not be expected to pay for the money prizes. As it goes now, Xannijn will handle all of those. All you would be expected to do is draw/write/photograph what the winner asks of you. :) If there is a problem concerning the winner’s request, please contact one of the moderators!

Thank you very much for reading, and we hope to see more of you in the future.  Yet I refuse to believe that only 26 people out there care about other people’s lives: go and spread the word, and soon, the world can become a better place!

How can you help?|Credits|The Sharia law: a threat? Why?|Contests, prizes and features: INFORMATION!

As you can see, we are now a group!

Now things may be very hectic to begin with, or very quiet, yet like any other group starting things up may take some time...

However the name of this group is "Sharia Victims", this doesn't mean that this is all about the similary named graphic novel only! All art is allowed, yet there are of course some rules one must keep in mind:

:star: Submitting stolen art/art you did not make yourself is STRICTLY forbidden, and will result in denial of that work and the reporting of that deviation. If it happens thrice, you WILL be banned.

:star: All forms of art are allowed: but it must concern (a) certain theme(s). That being:
:bulletblue: Gay rights.
:bulletblue: A homosexual relationship of any sort.(aka yaoi, yuri.)
:bulletblue: Certain forms of critique/grace towards the Sharia law. More information on that will be here soon!
:bulletblue: If you have another theme that you find fitting for this club, try submitting it anyway and await the response.

:star: Bashing other members or spreading hateful messages towards them/their artwork is forbidden. However, constructive critism does not equal flames. Keep that in mind!

:star: Have a suggestion for a favourite for this group? Questions? Remarks? Warnings? Send the club a note, and we will answer asap!

Don't know how to send us a note? Just commenting with your question on the front page should do fine as well, for now, while we still have only a few members. ;D

New deviations are allowed/checked usually every day.

The Sharia law: a threat? Why?

The discussion on whether the Sharia law is a threat towards homosexuals/bisexuals/transsexuals, is ridiculous. For the answer is very easy:
Yes. The Sharia law – when lived to by the letter – is a great threat for many lives.

How many lives exactly?
20 MILLION human lives can be lost, if they are all to follow their heart and come out of the closet. 20 MILLION human lives know that they will have to keep their love a secret for as long as they'll live: and risk more than anyone has ever imagined.
They risk losing their family, their homes, their right to exist. They risk facing the execution walls, risk a rope tangling their necks: and so far, only a handful of people are aware of this.
Do not let it happen. Visit the “How can you help?” section for petitions to sign, and submit art to our gallery in order to raise attention!

The countries that apply this law and therefore apply death penalty towards homosexuals are Mauritania, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan, Sudan, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Iraq murders them as well, but not on base of a specific law.

The greatest battle for human/civil rights of homosexuals isn't the quest for marriage. Although this is a theme that you may also bring to attention in this group! It's rather the quest for LIFE, of an amount of people greater than some of the greatest countries posess.

If you require more information on this subject, you can visit some of the following links:

Wikipedia on the Sharia law, overall: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharia

Wikipedia on the Islam, specially on its view on (homo)sexuality: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexu… that the Sharia law is spread from the Islam, and therefore contact with this society is required. )

Wikipedia, a map on the laws towards homosexuality: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wor…

The truthfulness of these articles cannot be proven, yet as wikipedia is understandable and translatable in all languages, these are the best links to offer.

More can be added at any time!

Discussion is free to spread anywhere in this group, yet I will not tolerate anti-Islam messages. Condemning an entire religion has never brought anyone anywhere. Please be respectful, and if you must share a negative opinion on it either way: do so more descretely.
